The Sage Ribbed Vase is made from a fine porcelain body sourced from a supplier in Stoke-on-Trent, prepared to the consistency needed for its thin walls.
The ribs are pressed into the surface using a hand-held wooden rib tool while the clay is at the stiffer side of plastic — a technique requiring precise timing and consistent pressure across the height of the vessel. The sage celadon glaze is a Korean-derived formulation, fired in a reduction atmosphere that drives the iron in the glaze towards green. No two vases carry an identical celadon distribution.
